You know you are working with an amazing couple when you walk up to the groom while he’s reading the newspaper on the porch and he says, “I’m so glad it’s raining today. I wanted it to cool down so my mom wouldn’t be so hot.” Not only was it raining, it was a monsoon rainstorm ALL – DAY – LONG. This adventurous couple did not let the weather stop them from having a great time. They splashed in a few puddles and took some fun pictures around the grounds under umbrellas at the Hendry House in Arlington.
The Hendry House, at Fort CF Smith, is charming and offers a lot of variety in it’s landscaping. A brilliantly colorful 20th century style home is nestled among a field of rolling grasses, gardens and a mature forest. The walking path that leads up to the home is beautifully landscaped with mature plants, benches and several uniquely shaped evergreen trees. It is a beautiful place for weddings and events.
With the rain in full force, Arielle and Matt had their jewish wedding ceremony under a tent. The chuppah was so pretty with birch supports and lush flowers at the top. Friends cheered when both Arielle and Matt broke the glass at the end of the ceremony. Dinner and dancing followed and went well into the evening. The happy couple was able to sneak out for a few photos just before dark when the rain began to taper off. I was very excited to capture some beautiful portraits in the trees and with the house illuminated behind them as they walked up to cut the cake. It was such a fun day and a truly special couple. Congratulations!
