There’s nothing I love more as a Washington DC family photographer than a session full of laughter, energy, and personality—and this recent family session in the city was all of that and more! We started on the National Mall, with its iconic monuments and reflecting pools as the backdrop, then headed over to the United States National Arboretumfor a mix of natural beauty and unique architecture.
This fit and fabulous family came ready for fun! They incorporated playful poses—pyramids, muscle shots, and plenty of laughter—and even brought along their adorable pups for some extra charm. Adding pets to family sessions always brings such an authentic, joyful energy, and these dogs were no exception.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect: sunshine, glistening water, and the timeless backdrop of Washington, DC. The combination of historic landmarks and lush green spaces created the perfect setting for both classic family portraits and playful, candid shots.

The National Mall is one of my favorite spots for family photography in Washington DC. From the Lincoln Memorial to the U.S. Capitol, the scenery is iconic and meaningful. The wide-open spaces also allow kids to move freely and give families the chance to relax in front of the camera.

After the monuments, we headed to the National Arboretum. This location is ideal for families who want a blend of nature and striking architecture.
