No matter the season, there is one venue in DC that is gorgeous and awe inspiring all year round. The National Cathedral with it’s grand scale and beautiful architecture is breathtaking, even in the winter. Julie and Alex chose this iconic venue for their wedding day portraits. They had their first look in the Bishop’s Garden and meandered the paths enjoying some quiet moments together as I snapped away. Their wedding was on Valentine’s Day and the love between them not only warmed their hearts but somehow also made the blistering winds and eventual snowfall feel more like a romantic fairytale than an inconvenience.
Julie not only has a love for Alex but also for the color pink. Her dress was a beautiful blush and sparkled in the light. The wedding flowers filled Hearst Auditorium with the smell of spring and hues of soft pinks mixed with other pastels. Their wedding cake was ornately decorated in pink layers and the groom’s cake was the British flag, representing Alex’s heritage. Accents of pink graced the candlelit ballroom and filled the air with a warm glow that contrasted the heavy snowfall outside.
There were many toasts and loving words said by family and friends. Julie and Alex are kind spirits and adored by many. The evening ended with a candlelit last dance. Julie and Alex graced the dance floor, surrounded by family and friends and the glow of their candles.
