Oatlands Historic House and Gardens in Loudoun County, Virginia was the perfect location for this spring maternity session. The garden trees and daffodils were in full bloom, creating a stunning backdrop for this couple’s portraits.
Gina + Michael were a joy to work with. It was clear that they were excited for their session and eager to become parents. Their thoughtfulness and love for each other, made for a truly authentic and heartwarming experience. The weather was perfect for the session, with early spring blooms, crisp air, and warm sunshine. The gardens at Oatlands were spectacular! We took advantage of the formal hedges, blooming magnolia and cherry trees, and the sunset views over the mountains. Gina had two different dresses for the shoot, both of which were stunning. The first was a form-fitting red gown that accentuated her beautiful belly, while the second was a lacy overlay that added a fun and flirty vibe to the shoot. Gina was a natural in front of the camera, moving effortlessly around the gardens in heels and bare feet alike. She was so comfortable and at peace, and her inner glow shone through in every image. Having two different looks also allowed me to experiment with a variety of poses which resulted in a large gallery of gorgeous portraits. Maternity Session Tip: Schedule your maternity photos around 32 weeks. It allows the mommy-to-be to still move around comfortably while also reducing the risk of going into labor early and missing your session. This maternity session was a beautiful experience that captured the joy, excitement, and love that Gina and Michael share. I can’t wait to see them again when they’re holding their newborn baby and basking in the glow of parenthood. |
